2019-2020 Internship Opportunities

The OSU Wesley Foundation has internship opportunities available to undergraduate and graduate students at Oklahoma State University and Northern Oklahoma College.  Interns assist the ministry staff in executing the Wesley’s programs, events, and administrative components, with special attention given to community engagement, leadership development, and spiritual growth.  

To apply for one or more of the opportunities below, send the following to Anne Walker, Director of Operations (anne@okstatewesley.org) no later than April 1, 2019:

  • In the body of your email, indicate which of the opportunities below you are applying for.  In addition, share why you would like to be a Wesley intern at this time and detail any past experience you have performing the tasks of the job for which you are applying.  You may apply for more than one of the opportunities listed below.
  • Attach your resume, including:
    • Major and year in school
    • Past and current work experience
    • Undergraduate and/or graduate extracurricular experience
    • Volunteer and/or church leadership experience
  • References: Name, email, and cell phone number for two people who can attest to your dependability and work habits.  References may not be peers, siblings, or parents.

SUMMER 2019 INTERNSHIPS

Details:

Each intern listed below will receive a stipend of $1,200 for approximately 8 hours of work per week. Summer internships begin May 20 and end August 9.  In addition to the holidays during which the Wesley offices are closed (Memorial Day and July 4) Summer interns will receive one week of “vacation” time (time away from work) over the summer.

Requirements:

Summer interns are required to attend a weekly staff meeting and hold regular office hours as negotiated with the Director of Operations.  Both positions will also perform administrative duties and provide coverage of the Wesley’s front desk as required.

Summer Internships Include

Outreach Intern

The summer Outreach Intern assists the Wesley’s Campus minister with strategy and implementation of outreach and recruitment strategies to engage current and incoming OSU/NOC students in the ministries of the OSU Wesley.  Duties include:

  • Registering, setting-up, and executing the OSU Wesley’s presence at OSU orientation events.
  • Contacting existing and incoming students about the ministries of the OSU Wesley.  
  • Recruitment and outreach events planning.
  • Attendance (expenses paid) at Oklahoma United Methodist district camps throughout the summer.

Office Intern

The summer Office Intern will assist the Wesley’s office staff with various administrative tasks.  Duties include:

  • Data entry and management
  • Calendar maintenance
  • Events planning
  • Preparation of mailings and other Wesley materials
  • Web site management.
  • May also include attendance (expenses paid) at Oklahoma United Methodist district camps throughout the summer.

ACADEMIC YEAR 2019-2020 INTERNSHIPS

Details:

Each intern listed below will receive a stipend of $2,000 per semester for the 2019-2020 academic year for 8-12 hours of work per week. Internships begin August 12 and end December 6 for the fall semester, then begin again January 14 and end May 1 for the spring semester.  In addition to the holidays on which the Wesley offices are closed (Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the day following, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and Good Friday) Summer interns will receive one week of “vacation” time (time away from work) each semester.

Requirements:

Interns are required to attend a weekly staff meeting and hold regular office hours as negotiated with the Director of Operations.  Interns are also required to attend a scheduled retreat at the start of the fall semester. All interns are expected to participate in the OSU Wesley’s weekly worship gathering, including set-up for dinner, worship participation and leadership, and post-event clean-up.  Interns are also expected to provide leadership Wesley special events including, but not limited to: Homecoming Walkaround, Thanksgiving Dinner, Fundraising Gala, and other special events.

Academic Year Internships

Worship Intern

The Worship Intern will assist the Wesley’s Campus Minister and other Wesley staff in planning and executing the Wesley’s weekly worship.  Duties include:

  • Ordering food for dinner
  • Shopping for food for dinner
  • Building slides for worship
  • Running slides and/our sound at worship

Outreach Intern

The Outreach Intern will assist the Wesley staff in managing contact with students who are participating in the life of the OSU Wesley.  Duties include:

  • Providing assistance with beginning-of-the-year outreach events
  • Managing worship and special event sign-in and attendance
  • Tracking small group attendance
  • Website maintenance

Women’s Ministry Worship Intern

The Women’s MInistry Worship Intern will be responsible for planning and executing the Wesley’s monthly women’s worship experience. Duties include:

  • Developing and scheduling slate of speakers for women’s worship.
  • Acting as point-of-contact for women’s worship speakers.
  • Planning flow of worship for women’s worship.
  • Recruitment worship leaders (readers, et.) for women’s worship.
  • Assisting in the planning and implementation of the I AM Conference and other women’s ministry events as necessary.

Women’s Ministry Conference Intern

The Women’s Ministry Conference Intern will assist the I AM Program Coordinator in planning and executing the annual I AM Conference, a vocational discernment conference for collegiate women.  Duties include:

  • Assisting in the conceptualization and development of the conference schedule and speakers.
  • Scheduling and execution of conference logistics
  • Assistance with logistics during the conference.

The internships below are available at 3-8 hours per week, for a stipend of $1,000 per semester.  They are bound to the same duties and requirements as those interns listed above.

Wesley Weekly Music Leadership Intern

The Music Leadership Intern will provide primary leadership for the organization and execution of worship music for Wesley Weekly.  Duties include:

  • Scheduling and communicating band practice times.
  • Selecting music to perform at Wesley Weekly.
  • Managing band member’s participation in the band.
  • Communicating selected music to the Wesley’s Worship Intern.

Women’s Ministry Communication Intern

The Women’s Ministry Communication intern provides administrative and programmatic support to the Women’s Ministry staff (Director of Operations and I AM Program Coordinator) as needed.  Duties include:

  • Acquiring and maintenance of women’s ministry print and electronic materials
  • Execution of special women’s ministry communication
  • Promotion of women’s ministry activities as directed

Women’s Ministry Music Intern

The Women’s Ministry Music Intern provides primary leadership for the organization and execution of worship music for Women’s Worship and the I AM Conference.  Duties include:

  • Scheduling and communicating band practice times.
  • Selecting music to perform at Women’s Worship and the I AM Conference.
  • Managing band member’s participation in the band.
  • Communicating selected music to the Wesley’s Women’s Ministry Worship Intern.

Hourly opportunities are also available
